Description
Looking to start a native plant garden? We have a DIY option with a little help from the experts. Our ecologist has curated three plant kits that are uniquely tailored to the site conditions prevalent in our area. Pre-order your kit by selecting your preferred kit from the drop-down menu, then pick-up at Abbey Gardens on Victoria Day weekend. These kits have enough plants ( 30+) to cover a 10 x 10 space. Cost is $215 + tax per kit.
The Pollinator Garden Kit is for sites with dry to normal soil that experience part shade to full sun. This kit includes a mix of wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees that will attract pollinators throughout the whole season. Species include:
- Black-eyed susan, wild lupine, dense blazing star, Virginia mountain mint, sky blue aster, pearly everlasting, wild bergamot, wild columbine, yarrow, zigzag goldenrod, prairie dropseed, Indian grass, chokecherry
The Open Shoreline Kit benefits sites with low lying areas that have moist soil and at least six hours of sunlight per day. The wildflowers can be planted right at the waters’ edge to create a beautiful display of colour. Species include:
