Description
This fun, family-friendly workshop will focus on camping skills for the backcountry- away from facilities and immersed in nature. Workshop delivery will be hands-on with short presentations and setting up a backcountry campsite. Topics and skills will include:
· learning about tent selection and set up
· menu planning, food packing and drinking water treatment
· packs and packing
· critter-proofing your campsite
· fire building skills
· single burner stove options and stove safety
· knots and tarp set up
· Leave No Trace techniques to minimize your impact
All these skills will be taught in a fun, supportive environment. All gear is provided but participants are encouraged to bring some of their own gear for feedback. Participants must come ready to be outdoors all day and provide their own lunch and drinks. This workshop will leave you more confident to take your family on a camping adventure, anywhere! Saturday July 19th from 10am-4pm. Cost is $80/family. Please note that each family unit may be up to 4 people and must include at least 1 adult. If your family group is bigger than 4, please book two spots.
